Get it? I mean...do you get why I wrote that title? Because he dresses really elegantly and so does James Bond. I love how he is wearing a scarf with the suit. It's super daring considering most men wouldn't...AND for that I give him props.
Kara Wickman StyleWeek Providence SS12...
I feel so accomplished after editing ALL of my StyleWeek Providence pictures from its opening night this past Monday. I edited well over 100 pictures and let me just say...it is NOT that fun.
Alright...now to talk about Kara Wickman's outstanding collection. I didn't really know what to expect since it was my first formal fashion show EVER and I had never seen Kara Wickman's work in person. I had only seen it in pictures online and that's it. I must say that I LOVE her collection! It reminds me of my own style. It's elegant and classic BUT with just that right amount of POP to it. Like her khaki pants with a POP of a cool pattern OR that random but well thought of POP of silver jumpsuit. I love it. It's exactly what I try to do when I dress myself. I try to look elegant and classic but with a subtle twist to it. Enough so that when people look at me, they have to stop and take an extra 2 seconds staring. Trust me...I stared for WAY WAY longer than 2 seconds at each and every one of Kara's models ensembles.
I hope you like it! I also hope you like my photo's of the fashion show. If you do happen to like Kara Wickman's clothing....BUY IT! Buy every single piece shown in these pictures. If you're going to buy one...why not buy the WHOLE thing?
P.s.-This collection is also on my blog's Facebook page...in case you want to view them there.
My Prediction Is Correct...
Patches On Everything...
Since when did this elbow patch trend start? Notice her blazer has elbow patches. I have also bought a few cardigans lately with elbow patches. Since when did this become a trend or even fashionable for that matter? Last time I heard...patches were not cool UNLESS it was a madras suit or shorts. I even read a GQ magazine several months ago praising a man for wearing a designer suit jacket, and then adding elbow patches only because his suit was so old, and had so many years of use that after the suits elbows started to deteriorate...he decided to patch them. Don't get me wrong...I'm not saying I don't agree or even like this trend. I just find it odd.
By the way...I love this woman's ensemble. Also, sorry for the picture quality.
Editor-In-Chief Of The Uptown Magazine...
The title in itself already has enough power to say YOU'RE FIRED or YOU'RE HIRED! Just kidding. Although...that is a very serious position to be in. Don't be put off by his position of power because he is actually a very sweet person and good conversationalist. Editor-In-Chief...it almost has like a music like ring to it. I'm weird, I know OR maybe it's because it's 2:30AM today when I am writing this post. I must say that this mans(who's name is on his business card which he gave me which I am trying to find) shoes are pretty cool! They remind me a lot of Hermes.
BY THE WAY...he and his magazine will be hosting an event on Boston Fashion's Night Out at the Liberty Hotel. Enjoy a couple drinks(or more if you really like to party) while socializing with friends and having a great fashion show go on.
Are Clogs Making A Comeback?...
WOAH! WOAH! Hold on a second(more like a minute)! Are those what I think they is(that mistake was made on purpose by the way)?! CLOGS?!?!?! Are clogs making a comeback in a chic more fashionable way? I must say...I don't mind them worn in the way this woman is wearing them. It would certainly be interesting to see clogs make a comeback and look good. With all that said...props to this woman for making clogs look good.
If you like my blog OR don't like my blog...please follow me anyway. Follow me either by Google Friend Connect or by Facebook or BOTH. I would seriously appreciate it! A quick FYI...I shout-out all my new followers on Twitter.
Fall Is In The Air...
I See You're Rockin' The DB...
Can I Get A Fresh Pair Of Fresh Kicks With A Side Order Of A Snapback?
GSV(Green Street Vault): What can I get for you sir? ME: Ummmm...yes...I would like vanilla ice cream on a cone and sprinkles on top. GSV: Excuse me...please read the sign sir. We're not an ice cream truck...we're better than that. We're an exclusive clothing truck. ME: What?! These type of things exist?! Am I in heaven?
That was my little intro to this post. SO yesterday I am walking down Newbury Street and I find this truck. I had heard about it in legends and myths BUT never experienced seeing it. I finally saw it. I must say...it's AMAZING! If I weren't currently broke I would have definitely bought a pair of sneakers from the truck and then bragged about it via a blog post and to all my friends(no big deal). Just kidding...but seriously. In all honesty...I checked out the clothing that this truck sells and most of it would be something I would wear. That's a lot to say(or at least I think it is). OH...and speaking of having Boston be one of the newest cities in America recognized for its fashion.....we have so much style that we have trucks that sell clothing. While every other city buys their clothing from typical shops...we have triple the amount of shops AND trucks. I think we do deserve a little recognition from the fashion world.
Here is a tiny portion of an article by http://bostinnovation.com on the Green Street Vault: "The premise of the Green Street Vault is simple – make a portable sneaker and clothing retailer catered to suburban males with an acute eye for urban fashion. Think food trucks, but instead of food, the Green Street Vault will pedal style, sneakers and apparel. This allows Green Street to more effectively cater to communities outside of Boston, while saving consumers and vendors time and money."
Now it's up to YOU to go find the truck and shop it's exclusive and trendy clothing!
Feather Hair Extensions...
I literally spotted this woman's feathers from a mile away. OK...not really. I spotted them from a far distance BUT not a mile away. Immediately I knew I had to take her picture!
If you haven't heard of or seen this new EXPLODING trend...well...now you have! BOOM! Feather extensions for women's hair. I think it looks super beautiful if you know how to pull it off such as the woman above. The only thing I am afraid of is that I will soon get sick of this trend and despise it with a passion due to the excessive amount of women jumping on the bandwagon and overdoing it. Roses are beautiful BUT if they were the ONLY type of flower that existed...we wouldn't think twice about them. In fact...most of us would probably hate them and wonder why there aren't any other kinds of flowers and how could we produce other kinds of flowers. Get what I'm saying? I hope you are.
Boston Is On The Fashion Forward Map...
Just a quick post about my beautiful city of Boston.
Boston is typically known for its sports teams like the Red Sox, Bruins, Patriots, and Celtics. We have never stood out as a fashion forward city. WELL...we are finally receiving the recognition we deserve! CBS wrote an article stating how Boston is well on its way to becoming one of America's newest fashion forward cities. What?! How is this possible? I will tell YOU.
1) Boston Fashion Week(which is now being held in an official tent...yeah...like NYFW)
2) Fashions Night Out(you know...the event started and sponsored by Vogue...it has finally reached us this year!)
3) Boutiques and Salons(such as the AMAZING ones found on Newbury street)
4) Restaurants(they simply encourage us to dress the part and go out with friends to socialize)
5) People(you know...we the people...or more like we the FEW people because not all of us dress well...the ones spending enormous amounts of money to look fashionable at ALL times.)
6) Boston Fashion Blogs(I'm not the only one in this city blogging about our cities fashion...there are other AMAZING bloggers who I have had the pleasure of meeting...check them out in the trendy dwarves around the world page)
I think I mentioned everything. I'm pretty sure I did. If I didn't...feel free to add on to the list!
It's All About The Bags...
Pleased To Meet You...
UGG Australia Store Opening On Newbury...
Yesterday night I attended the exclusive UGG Australia Grand Opening on Newbury Street and it was far from what I expected. The event was being held by UGG Australia and GQ. The fact that GQ was involved automatically means that I was NOT missing the event no matter what! If you don't know by now...I am subscribed to the magazine and I'm a big fan of it. At the event I got to see the Tom Brady collaboration collection with UGG Australia which hasn't been released yet along with his new campaign(which is pictured above and is framed throughout the store). Apparently I was the ONLY Boston fashion blogger who attended the event. Although, I did meet a new cool Boston blogger...BUT she isn't a fashion blogger. I was able to meet so many lovely people there including the store designer and store owner and the lovely woman who invited me to the event(which I thanked like a million times...AND still thank her for inviting me). As always I took TONS of pictures of people which I will be posting throughout the next week or two. As I am leaving, the women at the door give me an envelope which I didn't open until way after the event AND I find out it's a gift card which I can redeem for a particular pair of UGG shoes...I still can't believe it. A pair of UGG shoes...for free?!?! I have finally accomplished a blog goal which I have had for the longest time which was...to get any type of clothing item for free due to my blog. Time to set new goals.
I would really love to thank UGG Australia for inviting me to this wonderful event and gifting me a pair of shoes. I would ALSO really love to thank the absolutely wonderful woman who was proactive about asking me if I wanted her to take my picture with the wall as a background. THANK YOU!
ALSO...the UGG Australia store on 75 Newbury Street Boston Massachusetts will be opening to the public on Thursday 18th of August 2011. Go shop the wonderful selection of clothing/shoes they have there!
